Summary of Weather for Colkirk - December 2007 and the Year

December’s total rainfall of 54.8mm was almost exactly the same as the 30 year average for the month of December. The wettest day was the 6th when 9.0 mm fell. There were 9 days with more than 1mm of rain.

The total for the 7 months (almost) that I have been measuring the rainfall was 586.8 mm. The total yearly average for this part of the UK is only around 610 mm so with almost this amount in the 7 months I think 2007 can be considered a wet year (and much worse for some people in other parts of the country you may remember).

The average day and night temperature for the month was 4.5C, almost equal to the 30 year average value for the month of December. Highest air temperature of 13.2C was on the 6th and the lowest temperature of -1.7C was on the 13th.

The average maximum temperature from June to Decemeber was 15.0C, 1 degree lower that the 30 year average for this period. However, the average minimum temperature was almost 0.8C above the 30 year average for the same period.

The windiest day was 7th with an average speed of 6.3 mph although a gust of 40 mph was measured on the 1st. The dominant wind direction has again been in the WSW quarter this month.
